On Edge is a special pop-up exhibition by Malaysian artist Ivan Lam, presented by Wei-Ling Gallery at The Drawing Room, Yap Ah Shak House. Developed during his residency at the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York, the exhibition reflects Lam’s exploration of systems of meaning, observation, and the subtle negotiations within artistic practice. Drawing from his immersion in the visual language of the city such as transit signage and layered public posters. Lam shifts away from fixed structures toward a more open, non-linear approach. The works unfold through accumulation, overlap, and the interplay between presence and absence, where gestures, pauses, and silence hold equal weight. Balancing precision with ambiguity, On Edge presents Lam’s practice as an evolving inquiry into how artistic knowledge is formed and transformed. The exhibition also introduces two new works created after his return to Malaysia, distilling his residency experience into a refined visual language. Together, the works offer a glimpse into a transitional phase in Lam’s practice, one that embraces process, uncertainty, and continuous becoming.
